Week 7 – Project Meeting 3

Following last week’s meeting, Hugh gave me a few tasks to have researched and prepared for this week. The tasks are meeting in ‘week 6′ of this blog. Here is what I found out:

  • The copyright issue – the general rule is that you can’t use any material without permission even when using short clips. I spoke to Ian Cudmore, our film production lecturer about this and we came up with an idea to possibly use only clips from Irish films in my animations. Doing this I could then get permission for using the clips through the Irish Film Board, Filmbase and other Irish film organisations.
  • Depth of Field in Blender – i found that this is possible. Blender has a pre-setting for this to effect an object. You select the camera and go to its settings in the panel, then locate the box for ‘lens settings’ and there is a setting for ‘DOF distance’. Underneath is a text box that you select the object that will be affected.
  • Film Stock issue – I researched film stock in more detail and realised that it is more relevant to filmmaking and photography in general, and not to cinematography. It has been removed.
  • Elaborate on one feature in the project plan – the feature I went into detail on is ‘camera angles and shots’. I then re-done my project plan including the new content and removing the less relevant features.

My tasks for the next meeting was to go into detail on all of the project features and outline how i will create each and what they will be about.
